Year 3 2019 - 2020
Welcome to Year 3!
During the Spring term we will be focusing our learning on our topic question;
'What Makes The Earth Quake?'
In English we will work in line with the Primary Framework for Year 3 with a focus on children planning, drafting and editing their writing. We will be focusing our work around the book Pebble In My Pocket by Meredith Hooper.
In maths we will be using mathematical skills to solve a range of problems. We will also be securing methods to add, subtract, multiply and divide, working with decimals and fractions and improving our understanding of shape and perimeter. We will also be practicing our 3, 4 and 8 times tables daily.
In Science thoughout this term, we will be learning all about Plants and Animals including Humans. Pupils will be taught to:
- Generate questions and use scientific evidence that is given to answer questions.
- Set up an investigation and make predictions.
- Make observations and conclusions.
- Be able to answer questions based on their learning.
Our PE days are Wednesday and Thursday, but children should have PE kit in school every day. Please check that all PE kit is clearly labelled.
Every Friday the children will go home with spellings and English homework to be handed in the following Wednesday. There will also be online Mathematics homework for the children to complete.
Spelling will be tested on Wednesdays.
