Autumn Term

Welcome to the Autumn Term at Manor Park School.

The children have had an amazing start to their time at Manor Park School. We really enjoyed sharing the children's shoeboxes and learning all about what is important to them.

We will start the year with our project of

'Ready, Steady, Grow: Can We Do It As a Team?'

We will continue to have our main focus of allowing the children to settle into their new school life, learning the routines and rules, making lots of new friends and expanding our confidence in independent learning. We will be exploring the school grounds, visiting and using spaces around the school such as the Computer Suite, the School Library, the hall and the Art Studio.

We will be exploring how we have grown from a baby and changes in things we can do now that we couldn't when we were younger. We will enjoy sharing our mini projects completed at home of our first experiences. (A separate letter will give more information.)

We will visit Knutsford Library to explore the resources and facilities we can use there as well as share our favourite book.

Our 'Pathways' book for our English lessons will be the traditional tale of  'The Gingerbread Man' by Miriam Latimar as well as exploring and comparing with other versions of the same story.

In Maths we will be exploring early counting skills and lots of exploration of practical maths activities.

PE

Please can all PE Kits be in school throughout the school week. Our PE session will take place on a Wednesday throughout this term. Please can all items be clearly labelled. We will send the kits home at the end of term to be washed and returned.

Water bottles & Snack

Please can all children bring in a labelled water bottle for them to use throughout their day at school. A small snack should be brought in daily to be kept in your child's tray (No nuts.) Fruit is provided daily in for the children to eat in the afternoon.

Homework

The children will be sent home with their "Home News" book every other friday. (We also try to send this at every half term or holiday break.)

The children loved to share their "Home News" with the class. This should include photos/drawing (by your child) & writing. As the year progresses we encouarge the children to 'have a go' at the writing themselves.

More information will follow regarding  other homework as we progress through the year.

Homework across the school is set on a Friday and due on a Wednesday.

Reading

It is expected that children will "read" at home at least 5 times a week, please support children to log this in their planners. Children are encouraged to listen to story read by an adult, sibling or friend for pleasure as well as read independently from the RWI books at their level provided weekly. Planners will be checked every Friday. 😊

Planners/ Messages

At any time, if you need to speak to us, please either write a note in your child’s planner (give it to your child as they walk into school or they will not get seen until Friday) or contact the school office by telephone or e-mail. I will get in touch as soon as possible.

Soon we will have access to "Seesaw" which is a great way of you being able to keep updated with what the children are doing at school as well as sending messages.

The Autumn Half Term newsletter can be found below with more information.
